Black Joy: Empowering Families Through Tradition and Support

At The Parenting Collective CIC, we are proud to be a Black-owned and Black-led business deeply committed to the art of babywearing across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. As we celebrate Black Babywearing Week, we are excited to highlight the significance of babywearing in Black culture and our dedication to supporting all families, with a special focus on Black families.

Our Mission

In an industry that is predominantly white, The Parenting Collective CIC stands out as a beacon of diversity and inclusivity. We understand the rich heritage of babywearing across various cultures and are passionate about guiding families through this beautiful tradition. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all parents and carers, respecting and appreciating the diverse backgrounds that enrich the babywearing community.

Babywearing: A Cultural Legacy

Babywearing has deep roots in many cultures around the world, and it holds a special place in Black history. From the traditional kanga wraps in East Africa to the intricately woven slings of West Africa, the practice of babywearing is more than just a convenient way to carry a child; it is a cultural legacy passed down through generations. At The Parenting Collective CIC, we honour this heritage and strive to bring its benefits to modern families.

Supporting Black Families

We are acutely aware of the unique challenges that Black families face in the parenting world. Representation matters, and having access to resources and support from a business that understands and shares your cultural background can make a significant difference. Our team is dedicated to providing personalised, culturally sensitive support to help Black families feel confident and empowered in their babywearing journey.

Inclusivity at the Core

While we have a special focus on supporting Black families, our services are inclusive and open to all. We believe that every family deserves access to the benefits of babywearing, and we are committed to creating a space where everyone feels welcome. Our workshops, consultations, and community events are designed to foster a sense of belonging and support for all parents and carers.
